Health Tip of the day

Quitting smoking saves money. A pack-a-day smoker, who pays $2 per pack, can expect to save more than $700 per year. It appears that the price of cigarettes will continue to rise in coming years, as will the financial rewards of quitting.

Mission

The mission of the Office of Community Health Systems and Health Promotion is to ensure healthier communities across West Virginia through promoting healthier lifestyles, managing health information, and decreasing disease, injury, disability, and premature death.

Primary Care

The Division of Primary Care within the Office of Community Health Systems allocates funding to community-based comprehensive Primary Care Health Centers and Free Clinics (Health Rights) to improve the health status among medically underserved (uninsured) populations. Both State and Federal grant funds support efforts to provide quality, accessible health care services regardless of ability to pay. School-Based Health Centers and Black Lung Clinics Programs also receive their funding.
